A Mom’s Regret: Sharieka, Texas
When Sharieka originally heard complaints from her 8-year-old son Darrell, she dismissed it. He complained about kids picking on him, but she felt he could handle it. She told him to defend himself and fight back. She told him to tell the teacher. She never imagined that it was affecting him both emotionally and physically.
When she realized it was a serious problem, she found little help from her son’s school. Sharieka decided to build her son’s confidence through physical activity and have real conversations about bullying with her children.
