Community Friends is a volunteer program that allows children the opportunity to earn [community] badges through community service. By volunteering at a local nonprofit organization, first responder organization or civil service group, children can see the value of hard work while building confidence.
Fact
Volunteering at an early age can create positive life behaviors and reduce negative behaviors. According to studies, children who volunteer are 50% less like likely to abuse drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, or engage in destructive behavior.
The Program
Community Friends partners with local organizations that provide a significant service and contribution to the community. Badges are earned by donating a minimum of one hour of community service at a partner organization. Children will have the ability to track their achievements by collecting No Bullies Allowed badges to add to their Community Blanket.
This program fosters compassion, hard work and good will and is especially significant for those that bully others.
